Player of the Month: Didier Osindero

Welcome back to the latest installment of our 'Player of the Month' feature!

Each month we feature one of our fantastic Chineke! or Chineke! Junior artists, and discuss with them their experiences, what Chineke! means to them, and any advice they might give to aspiring musicians.

This month we are showcasing recent ABRSM Undergraduate Scholarship winner, Didier Osindero!

Didier started playing the violin when he was 5 and has been studying with Felicity Lipman since 2008. He attended the Junior Guildhall from 2008 – 2016 and currently attends the Purcell School of Music in Watford where he also studies jazz piano. He has been a member of the Chineke! Junior Orchestra since September 2015 and played his first concert as a member of the Chineke! Orchestra in September 2016 at the Royal Festival Hall.

Didier was awarded first prize at the Charlton House Young Musician Competition for Junior Guildhall Students in November 2014. In May 2016, he won the Junior Guildhall Lutine Prize and will be playing a concerto with the Junior Guildhall Symphony Orchestra on 8th July 2017. Didier also featured on the ‘In Tune’ programme on BBC Radio 3 in May 2016 where he played the Lullaby and Waltz from Britten’s Suite Op. 6.

A keen chamber musician, he has attended courses at MusicWorks, Pro Corda and the Maggini Chamber Course. His Junior Guildhall quartet won the annual Pro Corda Chamber Music Festival three times, and he is currently a member of the Daiken Quartet (formed at the Purcell School) with which he has been afforded the opportunity to play at venues such as Wigmore Hall.

Didier is keen to pursue a career in music and was recently awarded the ABRSM undergraduate scholar award to study at the Royal Northern College of Music. He hopes to start his BA in Music at the RNCM in September 2017.
